How are you really?

Moments like this when your heart experiences pain but you can't explain why.

Moments like this when you call a familiar voice just to hear truth

Moments like this when you so desperately just want to go home

Moments like this when you want to lay down and cry.

Moments like this when you hear a powerful message and your heart is constantly telling you to forgive, but that means surrendering your pain and placing it in someone else's hands

Moments like this when you read something and you are moved to tears.

Moments like this when the sun brings you great joy.

Moments like this when you just write and write and write in order to make sense of any emotion.

Moments like this when you search the scriptures for truth.

We all have those days. Days where you just hurt, but can't explain why.
Days where you just want to run or even hide behind laughter, busy schedules, and even temporary joy.
Days where the answer to "how are you" isn't actually "good"
How are you really?

Psalm 94:19
"When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul"

Attribute Challenge Day 6: Shadow of your wings, I take refuge

Psalm 57:1-3
"in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge
till the storms of destruction pass by.
I cry out to God Most High,
to God who fulfills his purpose for me.
He will send from heaven and save me;
he will put to shame him who tramples on me"

This Psalm reminds me of a song I sang for solo and ensemble in junior high. I chose this song because I was familiar with it, however I did not realize the significance or meaning of the song.
Here is a little of the lyrics that stand out to me now.

On Eagles Wings

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
You need not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
Though thousands fall about you,
Near you it shall not come.

I'm grateful for times in my childhood when I can look back and see God, I had no idea why I chose this song, besides the fact that I was familiar with it from my traditional church.

God is my refuge, and He is my strength :)

Attribute Challenge day 5: Mercy

Psalm 123:3
"Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us"

The Lord is merciful and will restore His people
We cry out to Him and He listens
Thank you for being a merciful God.

Attribute Challenge day 4: King of Glory

Psalm 24:10
"Who is this King of glory?
 The LORD of hosts,
he is the King of glory!"

As I was looking up at the stars tonight I am reminded of the simple truth that You placed every star in the sky. I can only imagine what this would of been like.
The peace I feel standing under the stars is incomparable to anything else.
Thank you for creating something so beautiful for us to enjoy.
You are the King of Glory!

Attribute challenge day 3: Worthy of praise

Psalm 96:1-5
"Oh sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day,
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised;
he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols
but the Lord made the heavens"

Father, you are worthy of praise.
Let me remember that even when I don't feel like praising you.
Thank you for allowing me to attend a University where we can unite in worship and praise You.
Let our hearts always be right when we come before you because You are worthy of praise.

Attribute challenge day 2: Speaker of Truth

Psalm 15:2
"...speaks truth in his heart"

The Lord speaks to those who listen.
He instills desires into our hearts and speaks with authority.
I want to listen to you Lord, always.
Thank you for being the speaker of truth.

Attribute challenge day 1: Safety

Psalm 27:5
"For He will hide me in His shelter"

I was reading from Psalm 27 and God directed my attention to verse 5.
The Lord will hide me in His shelter.
I will not fear because He is safe.
Let me always remember the safety of Your arms Lord.

Here is an explanation of the challenge I am doing :)
